Le violoncelliste canadien Cameron Crozman présente Ricercari, un album pour violoncelle seul d’une grande originalité. Les Ricercari de Gabrielli, sortis de l’oubli en 1689, marquent le début de la musique écrite pour violoncelle sans accompagnement. Ils servent ici de source d’inspiration pour six nouvelles œuvres commandées par Crozman à des compositeurs canadiens, français, colombiens et américains — son propre Ricercare venant compléter ce programme unique en tant que septième pièce.

« Jouer les Ricercari de Gabrielli a toujours été pour moi comme entrer dans un labyrinthe », explique Crozman. « Gabrielli n’aurait pas pu choisir un meilleur titre pour ces pièces que ce mot italien qui signifie chercher. Ces œuvres offrent aux interprètes comme aux auditeurs la possibilité de remonter le temps, à une époque où la musique pour violoncelle seul était une idée toute nouvelle. »

Canadian cellist Cameron Crozman presents Ricercari, a highly original album for solo cello. Gabrielli’s Ricercari emerged from obscurity in 1689, heralding the beginning of music for unaccompanied cello.  They serve as inspiration for six new works by Canadian, French, Colombian, and American composers commissioned by Crozman, whose own exploration is included as the seventh piece in this unique program.

The works offer both performers and listeners a chance to travel back to a time when music for solo cello was a brand-new idea.”
